Fixing Bad Home Hair Color - To Color Or Not?

Most women have tried at least one home hair color! Sometimes it turns out great but sometimes you create a mess and end up with a bad hair color. Trying to fix your hair color at home can be challenging but there are a few things that might help. Most of all, don't panic. Take deep breaths and realize that most mistakes can be relatively easy to fix. You do have options!

Many women try a new color when they get frustrated or bored with their own hair color. Many women have tried to 'go blonde' but been left with orange hair instead. This generally happens after the blonde color they used didn't lift their hair as much as the package promised! When color mistakes happen, remember that life is full of hair blunders. Most hair color mistakes are fixable! It may take a few more colors to reverse your color disaster, but have patience. After all, good things come to those who wait!

Great Hair Secrets

If you can afford to go to a color professional, that may be your easiest route! However, you'll need to do this in the first 48-72 hours. After that your color may lock into your hair and may be harder to remove. If you can't afford to go to a hairdresser, you might consider calling the hair color manufacturer for assistance. (i.e. Clairol, L'Oreal, etc.) Most of the major companies have toll free consumer help lines printed on color labels. Sometimes they're helpful, sometimes they're not. It largely depends on the problem you have and the persons working knowledge of color that you contact.

Dark Hair Color You'll have better success in removing brown and black permanent hair color with a color removal product or bleach, but these shouldn't be used very often. These are strong products and can permanently damage your hair. Depending on the color you selected, you may be able to cover permanent color temporarily with a semi-permanent color. This is especially true if your color isn't too dark. Its much easier to cover mistakes quickly on lighter brown colors than it is on darker colors.

Henna Hair Color Many people have home hair color disasters with henna. Not only does henna coat the hair, it can be highly unpredictable. To get rid of henna colors, try alcohol and mineral oil.

Red Hair Color Try L'Oreal Tone Refiner to remove red hair colors. This brand new product has mixed reviews. It depends on how fast you use the product, your hair texture, the color you used, and how 'locked in' the color is. Tone refiners are somewhat limited, as they only have two types available; one for blonde hair and one for brown hair. This product is a minimally invasive way to tone down the red colors you have. The only way to completely remove unwanted darker red colors is to bleach your hair, then add another color or a toner. You can do this yourself at home, if you have the right color information.

Brassiness For brassiness, try Clairol Shimmer Lights shampoo for blonde or white/gray hair. Shimmer Lights is a purple shampoo that is specially formulated to eliminate brassiness and orange hues. You can also try Silver Expressions Daily Color Enhancing Shampoo for gray to silver shades.

Hot water is notorious for fading chemically colored hair but should only be used once or twice. Using hot water longer than that can really damage your hair, not to mention what it does to your sebaceous glands and scalp! Damage plus a bad home hair color is double trouble! If you do damage your hair trying to get rid of home hair color, try hask placenta. It's sort of a disgusting product if you know what's really in it, but it's a great way to heal damaged hair.

The safest and least invasive way to remove bad hair colors is to use more color. You just have to know which colors to use. A good home hair color guide can help you fix your hair colors, if you like coloring your hair at home and are tired of guessing which colors to choose. Coloring your own hair is a lot of fun and you'll have such a wide variety of color choices! Knowing what color you'll end up with before you color helps you plan for better home hair color success!

What You Eat Can Improve Your Hair Growth Like Nothing Else

One of the fastest ways to improve the growth of your hair and overcome hair loss is by closely examining the foods you eat. Your diet plays a huge role in how much hair you're able to grow back. Certain foods contain exactly what your hair follicles need in order to thrive. You just have to know what they are and then go out there and prepare dishes containing them.

It doesn't take a lot of hard work to do this either. Nor does it require you to get on some type of special diet in order to regrow your hair.

Great Hair Secrets

One of the most effective foods you can eat that will surely stimulate hair growth are nuts. That's right, nuts are packed not only with protein, but also omega-3 fatty acids. If you've never heard of that before, it's a very important nutrient you should get plenty of in order to fight hair loss.

Fish is another great food that contains omega-3 fatty acids. Prepare your fish either by grilling or broiling it, and never fry. Frying your food only robs it of the many nutrients you actually need in order to make a change in the way your hair grows.

Don't forget fruits and veggies either. That old phrase mother used to make "you are what you eat", is totally true. You need iron, copper and zinc as part of everyday hair care. A lack of these nutrients are sure to cause you to go bald faster than you can believe.

Hair Growth Remedies At Home

According to Hair Science, hair normally grows about ¼ inch to ½ inch per month. That means that some people have hair that grows slower than others and some people have hair that grows faster than others, however the growing rate should be normal for you. We also shed about 50-80 hairs per day, give or take. (L'oreal, 2011) That might sound excessive but it is what it is.

In order to maximize hair growth, it is necessary to keep your hair nourished. It is far better to start with a healthy body to ensure healthy hair. According to an article from Web MD, there are ten top foods associated to the secrets to hair growth:

Great Hair Secrets

Essential omega-3 fatty acids are needed to support scalp health (if you lack a deficiency in these it can result in a dry scalp and your hair will be dull and lifeless). If you are vegetarian you can add flaxseed oil or ground flaxseed to your daily diet for an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acids.

  • Dark green vegetables such as spinach, kale, collards, and broccoli and fruits like cherries, blueberries, cranberries, pomegranates, raspberries and plums, are rich in vitamin A, C (antioxidants), iron and calcium. These fruits and vegetables help to produce sebum, which is a natural hair conditioner and is secreted by your hair follicles.

  • Beans contain iron, zinc, biotin, and lots of protein which is necessary for hair growth and really should be a part of a healthy hair growth diet.

  • Eggs are full of protein which is an excellent source for hair growth.

  • Whole grain breads, and cereals are an excellent source of zinc, iron, and B vitamins.

  • Beef, lamb and oysters are a good source of zinc.

  • Turkey and chicken are both great sources of protein.

  • Nuts, like walnuts and Brazil nuts another great source of protein.

  • Dairy products that are low in fat such as yogurt and skim milk are high in calcium, another necessity for hair growth.

  • Carrots are not only good for the eyes but also contribute to healthy shiny hair and are an excellent source of vitamin A.

Having healthy hair is a two-part commitment. Now that we have the internal requirements let's talk about external requirements. Utilizing some simple hair growth home remedies such as keeping your hair moisturized is essential to keeping it well nourished with some of the best oils for hair growth. Using the oil treatment about twice a week will encourage growth. Just mix some olive oil, coconut oil and almond oil in equal amounts and warm it in your microwave (just warm to the touch).

It might be easier to put the oil in a small bottle with a pointed tip to make it easier to apply. Apply the oil to your scalp and massage it in for about 3 minutes to stimulate your scalp. You can use a heat cap for about 20-30 minutes or you can put on a plastic cap and wrap your hair in a turban overnight. Shampoo with proper shampoo. Use warm water if you have oily hair and lukewarm water for dry hair. Using water that is too hot is not good for your hair (Parker, 2011). Stay tuned for more tips on hair growth.

Top 3 Secrets to Healthy Hair

Having a healthy mass of hair that acts as a head-turner is the dream of every woman. But it takes a lot of patience and care to gain that volume, which you secretly desire. Rising levels of pollution coupled with lack of rest and unhealthy eating habits can take a toll on your locks. That is why the first step towards beautiful hair lies in the awareness of what you are actually doing in your daily life. If you are following a healthy diet plan, working out regularly, having enough rest to rejuvenate yourself, you can surely look forward to possessing glamorous tresses.

We can basically sum up the secrets to healthy hair in three little steps.

Great Hair Secrets

Balanced Lifestyle

This is the primary and most important factor that will lead you towards a healthy mane shining with life. You need to pay proper attention to what you are eating. Due to our fast paced life, a lot of us have a bad habit of binge eating. When you are trying to achieve healthy, problem free hair, you will need to have a balanced diet plan made for yourself. At the same time, allocate some time everyday for regular exercises. This helps in regulating your blood circulation and keeping your scalp healthy.

A healthy lifestyle will also include proper amount of rest. If you don't give your body enough time to heal and rejuvenate after a hectic day, it will certainly show up in the way your hair looks and feels.

Less Use of Chemical Products

In the name of hair care, most of us have been addicted to hair products that are high on chemical content. More than helping our hair, these products affect the health of our hair in the long run, causing hair fall, and resulting in dry and damaged hair. Therefore, try resorting to natural hair care products and limit your use of chemicals.

Hydrating Your Hair

Drinking the right amount of water will not only keep your body hydrated but will also ensure the health of your scalp. Quite a few people often experience hair fall due to the dryness of their scalp. Making sure of your intake of water and other beneficial forms of liquids helps maintain your hair health.

While hair type and hair care may vary from person to person, these are some basic steps that guarantee healthy hair for everyone. So, follow them to flaunt healthy hair in style.

Pushing the Limits! Fantasy Hairstyling.

Fantasy hair is all about breaking the limits of traditional hairstyling. It can include the use of ornaments, clothing, and props to achieve the desired look, and it’s almost always pulled to the top of the head. Fantasy hair competition  pits contestants against each other to create a total look of hair, clothing and makeup, in a limited amount of time.

Hosted by actress Brooke Burns, this competition series pits ten of America’s best stylists against each other to see who can deliver the biggest and best in fantasy hair design.

Part sculpture and part pop art, each challenge requires contestants to create shocking coifs that resemble everything from multi-layer bridal cakes to toys with moveable pieces. The stylists then enter the ring to present their hair creations in a fully produced, dramatic and stylized performance. After each challenge, the judges critique the designers on creativity, execution and overall presentation.

In addition to blow-by-blow drama in the arena, there is also the day-to-day drama between the cohabitating stylists who fight each week to stay in the game and win the ultimate prize of $100,000.

“Hair Battle Spectacular” is produced by three Ball Productions with JD Roth, Todd Nelson, Adam Greener, and Mike Nichols serving as executive producers.
